Question

My state sent me a letter saying I owe them money but my efile says it was accepted? I thought I always have paid through TurboTax?

Not sure what you did to pay the state, but your only proof that you paid state tax due is your own credit card or bank statement.   Most states want to be paid on their own tax web site or they want a check or money order.  Very few states let you pay via your return by direct debit, and you cannot pay state tax due from a federal refund.   Look at the sheet that printed out when you e-filed to see what your filing instructions say about how to pay your state.

Accepted for processing is not the same as paying the tax bill ... so did the state balance due ever get paid ?  Do save a PDF of the return and review the state filing/payment instruction page.
