My wife and I filed married but separately. We did it at the same time. Why was hers accepted almost immediately and mine is still pending?

If your tax return is in pending status, that just means that your e-filed return is on its way and that the government has yet to accept or reject it. E-filed returns generally sit in Pending status for 24–48 hours before coming back as either Accepted or Rejected. State returns can stay in Pending status for several days or longer.
