My wife just filed and submitted her 2021 taxes as married filing separate. I decided I should file return as married joint, does she need to amend her return?

Thank you for your quick turn around!  She just completed her e-filing yesterday and it has been accepted.  Should I continue my filing today/this weekend as married joint or wait a few weeks to amend her filing and add my information in her filing?

You cannot file a 2021 tax return as Married Filing Jointly since your wife has already filed a separate return.  You should only amend the 2021 tax return that she filed and enter your tax data on the amended return.  It would be best for you to wait until the IRS processes her tax return before amending.

Yes, she would have to amend her tax return and change to filing jointly.  You would enter your information on the amended return.

An amended return, Form 1040-X, can only be printed and mailed to the IRS if the original tax return was not e-filed. The IRS will take up to 16 weeks or longer to process an amended tax return.

Before starting to amend the tax return, wait for the tax refund to be received or the taxes due to be paid and processed by the IRS.

See this TurboTax support FAQ for amending a 2021 return - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/tax-return/help/how-do-i-amend-my-2021-return/00/2544441
