Question

My wife provided the wrong account for the Federal and Arizona tax return and they tried to take the money but the account was dormant. What to do now?

Meanwhile I transferred the amount necessary and unlock the account but I don’t see any activity there...

Don't know if they will try again or send you a letter.

You can pay the IRS directly at

https://www.irs.gov/payments

You can go to your state website to pay state.

Looks like they will send you a letter.  Found this info

Pay IRS tax due by direct withdrawal

https://www.irs.gov/payments/pay-taxes-by-electronic-funds-withdrawal

It says........

If a payment is returned by your financial institution (e.g., due to insufficient funds, incorrect account information, closed account, etc.) the IRS will mail a Letter 4870 to the address we have on file for you, explaining why the payment could not be processed, and providing alternate payment options.
