I have generated 2 1099-NEC forms and printed them to send to hirees.  How do I notify IRS? I am using Home & Business Turbotax software, not online.

    For each Form 1099-NEC, you should have the following copies:

    Copy A for the Internal Revenue Service (two different people per page);

    Copies B, C, and 1:

    …….(Copy B for the recipient);

    …….(Copy C for your records); and on the same page

    …….(Copy 1 for the state tax department, if required).

    Include all pages of Copy A with Form 1096 (do not staple), sign Form 1096,

    IMPORTANT: Do not cut or separate Forms 1096 or 1099-MISC Copy A, even if a form is blank.

    Where to mail to the IRS.  Form 1096 has the mailing instructions

    Are you on Windows or Mac?  In the Windows Home & Business program you can do them 2 different ways.  Either Online using Quick Employer Forms (QEF) -or- directly on your computer with the built in W2/1099 Reporter. If you use the Reporter on your computer you have to mail them to the IRS and not efile.  The Quick Employer Forms will efile them.

    If I mail them, is there a form that goes with them, or just stick them in an envelope and send them? Do they go to a specific address/department? Can they go in one envelope or do I need to send them separately?

    I'm just not seeing the next steps spelled out anywhere.
