On turbo tax it says my federal + state refunds have been approved but when I check the irs refund status tool it says the return has only been received and not processed

You must wait for the IRS to process your return. It can take about 21 days for processing.

Turbo Tax will not have a status on your refund. If the IRS website says processing, this means they are working on it.

This doesn't answer the question whatsoever. I asked why turbotax says my refund has been accepted when it has not?

Turbo Tax says Accepted not approved. Accepted only means the IRS or state verified your identity. Then they process it then they Approve it. After your efile is Accepted Turbo Tax is done with their part and doesn't get any more updates from the IRS.
