Original tax due

I e-filed in Feb and was accepted. The forms showed I owed $19862 for 2020 (Fed) and about $5k (State). Being so early, I did not pay either amounts. Later I discovered I failed to enter estimated 2020 taxes paid quarterly which reduced my 2020 tax bill to $0 (Fed) and a refund of $3k (state). I have since amended the 2020 taxes and am getting ready to mail them in. Now it says I owe no balance and will not receive a refund from the feds. Also, it did not provide estimated payments for 2021 My question is - Do I still have to mail in the original $19862 to the feds on the original form 1040-V OR can I produce my own 1040-ES forms and pay 2021 estimated quarterly that add up to approximately $20K.

No to both situations.  Do not send in a new tax return and do not mail an amended tax return.  The IRS will confirm your estimated payments and make the adjustment.

Sending anything new now will only complicate the situation.  If you'd like some confirmation you can contact the IRS to make an appointment.
