Question

PA Needed Something Signed?

I live in NJ but had to file as a PA non-resident because of some 1099-MISC work I did there last year.

While e-filing, TurboTax told me I would have to print and sign something, but that we would come back to that later. After I finished e-filing, nothing ever popped up and now I can't find the messages that indicated what I would need to print and sign. Does anyone know what that was referring to and what I could do to access it?

I'm pretty sure it said I would have to print and sign after the return was accepted, which it was this morning. I reopened the software and used the "Check E-File Status" and it shows all my states and federal are accepted, but still nothing to print and sign. I'm worried I might be messing something up.

    It depends.

If you were able to electronically file your federal and PA return, you do not need to mail in your Form PA-8453, Individual Income Tax Declaration for Electronic Filing.

However, you will need to retain this form with your tax return for three years after the return was filed or the due date of the return, which ever is later.
