Question

Paid owed 2020 taxes with credit card, does this change how I receive my 3rd stimulus?

For my 2019 Taxes I filed, I got a federal refund direct deposited into my bank account and therefore my 1st and 2nd stimulus payment went right into that bank account.

Last month I completed my 2020 tax return and I owed taxes this year so I opted to pay by credit card which went through without a problem.

Will my third stimulus check be deposited into the bank account I used previously or does using the credit card to pay my taxes last month change how I will now receive the stimulus payment?

(Side info: our income does qualify us and I have not received anything in my bank account yet.)

Thanks!

Paying for your taxes with a credit card will not change the bank account information tht the IRS uses to process stimulus payments.  To see that account information, go to Get My Payment and click to change the payment method.  That will show what they have on file for you.  Changing it now will not affect the 3rd stimulus payment, but will put the correct information there for any future payments.

Thank you for your response!
When I go to the IRS site and fill in my information it just says "Status Not Available".

Sometimes their system is down, keep checking. Despite the IRS said the status of your payment changes once a day, it can change a few times a day.
