When paying my taxes I understand the instructions send a check and voucher to the appropriate IRS destination, but it says to include the return as well. What document is the return?

If you've Efiled your return and it has been accepted you will only have to mail the check and the voucher. There are no other documents.

Make your check or money order out to United States Treasury.
Make sure these 4 items are on the front the check or money order:
1. Social Security number
2. Taxpayer's name
3. Your mailing address
4. Daytime phone number
Mail the check or money order to the IRS, along with Form 1040-V, postmarked by the April 15, 2020 tax filing deadline to avoid the late payment penalty. We'll prepare Form 1040-V for you.
