Previously I have used the desktop version of TT and I was able to view the 1040 before filing. How do I view the 1040 forms & state forms before proceeding?

You do not have forms mode in online TurboTax. With online you can preview your federal Form 1040 and Schedules 1, 2 , or 3. In order to see more forms or to see the state return, you will need to pay your fees to print before you file.
