Refund deposited on 2/22/18 (paid by pg sbtpg) $958.30 but my refund was $2,120. Santa Barbara rcvd $1,057 & $116.97 came out for TT fees. Where is the missing $1,063?

Received an "Audit by Mail" from the IRS concerning the American Opportunity Credit which was $1,000. The "Where's my refund" function on the IRS website states that my refund is still under review and has not been issued.

What happened was the IRS deposited the portion of your refund that they did not feel needed further review. They are holding the remaining that is tied with their review. Once they complete the review they will notify of the finding and if they agree that the remaining refund is due to you they will send it to you.
