Remanded return

I chose to e-file this year. My state return says accepted, but my federal says print (inside the app). Does this mean I have to print my remanded return and then send it off? Or does it do that in the app for me?

TurboTax does not mail in your return. Any returns needing to be mailed must be printed and mailed by you. Don't forget to sign the return.

Did you e-file your original Federal return? If you did not e-file your Federal return, you should be able to e-file it now.

If you amended your Federal return on a 1040X form, you must print and mail it in, and sign the form, & included any forms or schedules that changed due to the amendment.

If you've closed out of your amended return, you can still view and print a copy. It is highly recommend you save a copy for your own records in case you need it again in the future.

Detailed Instructions:

Log in to your account.
Click on Amend (change) return.
Click on the Amend using TurboTax Online button.
Select the My Account drop down in the upper right and choose Print Center.
Under the Choose your option: section, select which forms you want to print.
Click Print save or preview this year’s return.
Click View or Print.
Mail to the address specified in your return.

Note: Be sure you sign out of your account for your own security.

Not sure what you mean by "remanded" return. (Did you mean to type "amended?") But if you did not successfully e-file your federal return, you cannot e-file your state return. TurboTax does not mail any tax returns for you. If you choose to file by mail then YOU have to print, sign, and mail your own tax return. Federal and state returns do not go to the same place--they go to separate mailing addresses.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS and/or your state received the return.

If you really meant that you prepared an amended tax return, a federal amended return is prepared on a Form 1040X which MUST be printed, signed and mailed. Amended returns cannot be e-filed. Perhaps you could clarify what you are trying to do.
