Question

Should I amend my taxes since I accidentally didn't claim receving my second stimulus payment?

I filed my taxes before receiving my second stimulus payment and claimed that I didn't which gave me earned income credit. I need to change that and refile my taxes.

The IRS will probably adjust your tax return to remove the stimulus payment that you included in error on your 2020 tax return. If not, you can amend your return to correct it, but you should wait until your refund is received first.

The stimulus payment will not affect your earned income credit in either case.
