Should I be concerned if I haven’t received my refunds? Both returns were accepted by TT and approved by IRS but when I check the IRS tracker it says they are pending.

The fact that the return is pending means that the IRS has received your return so that’s good news. Many reasons for pending. Be patient.

You are confusing some of the words being used.   TurboTax did not say "approved."  TurboTax said "accepted."   Those do not have the same meaning.

And...if the returns were "accepted" then they are not "pending."  They are being processed.

TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer.  “21 days”  is not a promise from TurboTax or the IRS.

First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:

https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control.  TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2023 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

To track your state refund:

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.

Thank you for your reply but I’m not confusing anything. I got notification from TurboTax saying they were accepted and then I got a SEPARATE email from the IRS official notification service saying they were approved. My question was purely to see if anyone else was experiencing this odd sequence of events and if they had further information. I don’t need information on the processes of filing and waiting. Have a good day.

OK ... once again you are confused with the terminology.  TT may say that the return was ACCEPTED for PROCESSING  however only the IRS can APPROVE  the refund for distribution.

Once a tax return (not refund)   has been Accepted for processing by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund.  IGNORE any further emails from TT once you have filed and were accepted for processing  ...  as they only give estimated processing dates.

See this info

https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/wheres-my-refund/

After the tax return has been Accepted by the IRS (meaning only that they received the return) it will be in the Processing mode until the tax refund has been Approved and then an Issue Date will be available on the IRS website.
