Question

Should I have paid federal taxes if I was rated totally and permanently disabled on 1 July 2019? Being told I shouldn't, but already filed. Amendment?

We do not know what income you entered on your tax return--we cannot see it.  You say you became disabled, but did not explain what income you received in 2019 or if any tax was withheld from it.  We need more information.

Who told you that?   At most, there is a credit for being permanently disabled, but the income levels to qualify are very low and most people do not qualify, but that has nothing to do with filing requirements.
