Should i still put the state on my w-2 even if thats not where i lived while working for said employer?

Yes, please report and enter the W-2 as it is.

There could be state tax withheld because that state taxes earnings made in the state, OR if withheld in error, you would file to get the tax back.

The TurboTax program needs to know what was reported on the W-2.
