hi,
just got a letter from the IRS, that i am being audit for 2016 declaration, regarding my nephews that i put as dependents. they need information to prove that they live with me for 6 months or more unfortunately i do not have that info with me.
i do not want to get in any hassles with the irs so what are my options.
i do not have any information to provide to the irs regarding my nephews living in the us.

I would just contact the IRS at the number on the notice and talk to them about your circumstances, and I would do this before I did anything else. Ask them what type of information will suffice for the proof they need. The IRS is generally very helpful but you have to communicate your situation to them before they can help you. It will take some of your time to do this, but you might be surprised at how much the IRS is actually willing to work with you. Again, call them...
