Should I wait until after April 15 to correct the mistake that I have been asking about : schedule f was filed and it should have been schedule e?

    No.  There is no need to wait until April 15th to amend your return.  You can do this anytime after the IRS processes your return, so if your return has already been processed, you can Amend Your Return now.
