No, you don't need to call the IRS if you are seeing a message that they need more time to process your return. 

 

If they need something from you to complete the processing of your tax return, they will either post that message in Where's my refund?, or they will mail you a letter asking you for more information. 

 

This is a common message this year because the IRS is making a greater effort to verify things like current address, and W-2 information before they issue the refund. Most returns with this message are processed without any additional information. 

 

It's a good idea to check Where's my refund? every day or two to see if they need something extra from you. It's only updated once a day, so don't check every few hours.
