So if I originally got a $2,000 refund, and another $500 after amending my taxes, how will i receive the additional payment? Can I choose how and where I recieve it?

A tax refund from an amended tax return, Form 1040X, that you had to print and mail to the IRS, can only be sent as a check from the IRS to the address entered on the amended tax return.
