So today I received a deposit from the irs for 246 dollars. I’m not sure what it is for? I also received a email that states I’m owed 815$? I’m confused

Does it’s email? And why did I only receive 246 if I’m owed 815? And what’s the money for? I already filed and paid my taxes? Did anyone else receive a random payment today?

No the IRS does not email or text or call.  They only mail letters. Watch out for scams.   What is the description on the deposit?

Did you get unemployment?  When did you file?  If you have filed early before the exclusion, the IRS will recalculate your return for the new 10,200 unemployment exemption for you. There is no need for taxpayers to file an amended return unless the calculations make the taxpayer newly eligible for additional federal credits and deductions not already included on the original tax return.
