So what do I do with my refund, since my amended tax return will change how much I get back?Originally I was getting $633, now after amending I get like $40.

Wait until you receive the original refund of $633 either in your bank or by paper check, before you mail in your amended return.

Whatever changes you made to the original, means that you will need to pay back $593 of the original amount received. In other words, you original refund should have been $40.
