You will have to print and mail your tax return keeping your dependent on your tax return.  The IRS will pay any tax refund on your tax return.

Within a year you and the other party will get letters from the IRS to investigate who should have claimed the dependent.  The losing party get to pay back any tax refund plus pay penalties and interest.
