State Tax Refund

I have Deluxe version with one free state tax filing. I am using for 2 different returns. Why can't I see the amount of the state refund before I decide to use my 1 free filing? Last year I was able to see both returns refunds before filing. The cost has gone up to $45 since last year and I would like to see which tax return would be better to use the free filing for before paying.

You can see a summary of your state taxes before you file

    From the left sidebar

    1. Select Tax tools
    • You may have to minimize both the Federal and State options by clicking the Down Arrows on the Sidebar.
    • You will then clearly see Tax Tools
    • Click the arrow to up to see additional options
    1. Click Tools
    2. A Menu will pop up
    3. Select View tax summary
    4. A list of the state summaries is on the left sidebar

Using the TurboTax desktop editions, there is not a free state tax e-file.  You receive one free state program download with no reference to e-filing.

The charge to e-file a state tax return is currently $25 for each state return e-filed.  This charge can be avoided by printing and mailing the state tax return.

See this TurboTax website for the desktop editions.  Note under the Deluxe, Premier and Home & Business editions the following statement - https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/cd-download/

    Includes 5 federal e-files
    Includes 1 state download
    State e-file sold separately
