tax problem

My state sent me a bill saying my taxes were never paid. They were supposed to be taken from my federal return which does show on my profile here that the state accepted payment, also my bank account only received the amount after it was taken out. Before I contact the state revenue service I want to make sure I have all the paperwork I can get to prove that they were paid. Thank you

State taxes owed can Never be paid from a federal tax refund.

Only the TurboTax account fees for the online editions can be paid from a federal tax refund.

In the File section of the program there were several options on how to pay the taxes owed,  Paying from the tax refund was not one of those options.

Look at the State Filing Instructions page of your tax return to see how you chose to pay the state taxes owed.

Your only proof of payment is a cancelled check, bank or credit card statement showing the payment to the State for the taxes owed.
