When using the IRS "Where's My Refund" tool, be sure you are using the correct SSN (or ITIN) that's shown on your tax return, the correct tax year,  the correct filing status, and the amount of your Federal refund.   Be sure you are using only the Federal refund amount and not including any state refund (if applicable).   Use the Federal refund amount shown on your Form 1040, Line 35a.

If the WMR tool still can't find it, we can tell you how to contact the IRS.   The way to phone them depends on whether you are in the USA or if you are in your foreign country.  If you are currently outside the USA, we can tell you how to contact the IRS International Taxpayer Service Call Center.

Thank you for the clarification. Yes, I am giving only Fed refund in the column in the search box. As I am currently abroad, it would be great if you can provide me with the contact details of IRS. Thanks

A complete list of ways to contact the IRS (including phone numbers) can be found HERE.

While the advertised time to process a mailed-in tax return is still listed as 6-8 weeks, the IRS is experiencing a backlog scanning in and processing returns that result in many taxpayers experiencing much longer processing times.

However, it is probably prudent at this point to reach out to them to check on the status given the time that has elapsed.
