The irs accepted my return on 2/10/21 and I still didn't receive my taxes direct deposit. The website says my "return is still being processed and I'll have a refund date when available." Is that a bad thing? All of my friends got there taxes this week but me. I hope I'll still get mine before the 21 days:/

It is not a bad thing. Each return is different, and some take longer than others.

I read an article on msn stating the reasons the irs is behind on refunds reduced employees although when you go on the irs website and search open positions they not hiring so that’s bs , some of the printers are out of ink was another reason so a government ran agency can’t afford to buy ink, come on . This issue needs to receive country wide attention this is happening to millions of Americans and its completely unacceptable given this country’s current state , millions of people are in desperate need for what’s OWED TO THEM .

This issue has gotten a lot of attention, nation-wide,

See  Where is my damn IRS tax refund? and The IRS is behind in processing nearly 7 million tax returns, slowing refunds as it implements new stimulus

Why is this happening? Tax season (normally Jan 1 - Apr 15) is the busiest time of the year for the IRS. This year, they have also had to deal with major changes in the tax law, including ones that were passed retroactively in the past two weeks. They are also struggling with the same COVID workplace and workforce issues the rest of the country has encountered.

My return was accepted 1/26/22 and it is still being processed.I have checked for tax transcript and it says my 2021 return is not processed. I have opted for notification so how much longer will it take and can turbo tax do anything.

No, the IRS is the only one who can process your return. Refunds usually take about 21 days after the IRS has accepted your e-filed return. Although, sometimes it can take longer. The IRS is taking more than 21 days (and up to 90 to 120 days) to issue refunds for tax returns with the Recovery Rebate Credit, Earned Income Tax Credit and Additional Child Tax Credit. Please see What if my IRS refund is taking longer than 21 days? for more information.

If the IRS has accepted your e-filed return, you can continue to check the status of your refund by going directly to https://www.irs.gov/refunds.
