Question

taxes rejected

I have e-filed our taxes but they keep getting rejected. They indicate that the AGI is not correct but it is. My husband and I file jointly. One question that is asked is what was my AGI last year and what was his AGI last year. The same amount shows up in each. Should they be different? Our combined AGI is what was in the resulting field.

It sounds like your entering the correct AGI. It should be the same for you and your spouse and it should be the total AGI shown on your 2018 form 1040. If you filed your return late in the year or if the IRS database has the wrong AGI for some reason, you can try entering 0 (zero) for your AGI and resubmitting your return. If that doesn't work, you will have to print, sign and mail your return to get it accepted.

Thank you. We always file early and I have checked last years turbo tax information and the number is correct. I will try the 000. Just hate to have to mail them in. Such a pain in this electronic age.
