Question

The IRS refigured my 2019 tax return last year and it changed my refund. Do I need to have a copy of that updated return to start my taxes this year?

I used Turbo Tax to figure my return, but because of a glitch with the IRS, I mailed them my return. Several months later, I found out they refigured my return and and had actually refunded back what I owed and paid me a small refund. Do I need to obtain an updated copy of my return from the IRS to do this years taxes? If so, do I have to update the information in TurboTax from last year to get this year's return to come out correctly?

Probably not. But. It depends on the details of the change.  Generally, each year stands on it's own. "Carry over" items from the previous year are fairly rare.
