Does the IRS say they did not receive your 2023 tax return or do they say they did not receive a payment for tax due that you owed for 2023? Your only proof that you paid your 2023 tax due is your own bank or credit card record.
Look in your TT account to see what it says for your 2023 return.
Did you e-file?Did you click a big orange button that said “Transmit my returns now?”
Does your account say "Accepted, " “Ready to Mail?” Or “Rejected?” Or “Printed?”
If it says anything other than "accepted" your return was not e-filed successfully and you will need to file it by mail now. E-filing is closed for 2023 returns.
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
