The IRS website indicates that my refund will be mailed, but we set up direct deposit in TurboTax. Is that just the standard IRS refund response?
Nope.
If there was an error in the direct deposit number or the bank encountered an error transferring the money into your account, the IRS will send you a check because it's more secure and safer for your return. If the IRS is telling you that they've sent a check, that is more than likely what happened.
