TurboTax lied or misled me. I could have used the same cpa I used last year and had no problems. I’m paying for this service and I want some answers and a resolution!

All you can do now is, wait. At least you know that the IRS has your filing. It does not matter who sent your 1040 to the IRS. The IRS is the sole destination for tax returns. No one has discovered a way to make the IRS speed up sending out refunds. No one ever will because the IRS is an overwhelmed, over worked, under funded and under staffed government bureaucracy.

Maybe IRS noticed that you did not use your paid preparer this time and found that suspicious.

So they marked your return for verification.

Just guessing.

Nobody know what the IRS triggers are because they don't reveal that information.

I HAVE TO VERIFY MY IDENTITY

Sometimes the IRS chooses returns randomly to request verification of identity and sometimes there is something on the return that triggers the request.  No matter why the IRS has required you to verify your identity, you need to follow their instructions in order to receive your refund.  If you do not verify your identity you will not get your refund.
