After I filed my taxes for 2020 and they were accepted. I received another 1099 from an investment account the day after I filed.  I had to wait like a month before the amendment page was available. I filled out the form and when I tried to print it off so I could file it I was informed the were errors in the form.  After running a review I checked the first error listed.  It was asking for my wife,s name and social security number.  My wife passed away on August 25, 2019 and I filed for 2020 as single. I don't know why they need her name and ssn. When I was working on it today it came up with a list of Special situationsfor my amended return. Not sure what I should be checking.  Any help available?

I'm sorry for your loss.

The only thing I can think of is the 1099 form you entered may have been in the name of your spouse. That could have happened as the blank form may have been carried over from the previous year. If the form 1099 is in your name, then you need to make sure it is entered as such in TurboTax.

If it is in your spouse's name, then you need to get that corrected, but you don't need to enter it on your tax return this year if you don't own the investment.
