Turbo tax previously stated returns accepted today it says ready to be mailed...is it possible to get my refund status as it seems it may not have even been looked at yet

Is it possible you have more than one account? If your return was previously efiled and accepted, TurboTax would not say ready to be mailed. Did you start an amended return? That might result in the ready to be mailed statement. If there is still confusion, use this link to find other accounts:

If accepted, what does the IRS tracking web site say about the status of your refund?

I suggest that you log out of TurboTax, clear your browser cache and cookies, and log back in and check the status.  If it show Accepted then you can safely assume that the return is in the IRS e-File system.
