TurboTax Desktop Question

Hello all.

This is something that has always bugged me, but why does TT desktop save 2 copies of my

Tax Return.tax2024 file?

One copy has one ~ at the beginning of the file name, and the other has 2 ~'s, or occasionally there is no ~ at the beginning.

Normally one copy will be a few KB's larger than the other one, and the time stamp will be a couple minutes apart.

This has "always" happened since I've been using TT Desktop (or at least as far back as I can remember).

I'm using both TT Deluxe for my personal taxes and TT Business for a Trust, and it happens in both.

Thanks.

The ~ version is the previously saved version of your tax return.

    • In the event you lost the current working copy, it would be a backup.
    • The one without the ~ is the most recently saved copy.

    thank you.

So if there's a copy with one ~, and a copy with two ~~,  the copy with one ~ would be the most recent copy?
