Two W-2s from the same employer but different employee

Hi Turbo Tax,

My return is rejected due to duplicate W-2s. The Turbo Tax Desktop software doesn't recognized that the employee name and information is different on W-2s. My spouse and I work at same company and have same pay. So our W2 turn out to be all same except the name, SSI of the employee, and state tax withheld is different. How do I fix/handle this on Turbo Tax's Desktop software?

    If you are importing your W2s, please go into the forms and make sure that your names and social security numbers are correct, and overall numbers are correct.  Or even better, delete your import and enter it yourself. Its two different W2s with two different social security numbers. Just double check your entries.

    Hi Vika K,

     

    I have manually re-enter and double check all my numbers and social security numbers are correct. I even made sure the spouse W-2 box is checked on the Wages and Tax Statement form. I am still getting same reject of duplicate W-2s. Will it be possible to have one of your Turbo Tax experts give me a call to help fix this?

    Hello Slee21,

    yes, in your TurboTax online account there is a picture of a gentlemen  "live help". You can click on it and have someone either chat with you or have a phone conversation, where you can share your screen with an expert and they can double check everything.  Make sure you do not pick Line by Line review- as you already tried to file it and this option will not be available, also do not pick offline review- experts need to see your screen and walk you thg some fixes.     also make sure that the box spouse's w-2 is checked on their w-2.

    I have double check and re-enter everything manually and ensure the spouse W-2 box is marked before I re-submit again. I am still getting this reject of duplicate W-2s. Will it be possible to have someone at Turbo Tax to give me a call?
