Two years ago, I had to include a schedule C with my tax return due to my soon to be ex-husband owning his own business. Any ideas how to get it off my return?

My ex-husband owned his own business while we were married. Two years ago was the last time I had to include any income and expenses on my tax returns. We have since gotten divorced and he sold the business, but for some reason this year (but not last year), TurboTax isn't allowing me to remove the schedule C from my returns. Any suggestions?

Sometimes a worksheet or form remains in the background from a prior year, even when it is no longer needed. To see if this is the case, follow these steps:

  • Log on to your Turbo Tax Online account and open your return.
  • Select My Account at the top of the page, then Tools from the drop-down box.
  • In the Tools box, click on Delete a Form.
  • When the list of forms in your return appears, look for any Schedule C forms and delete them.
  • Confirm that you want to delete the form(s), click Continue, then Continue With My Return (at the bottom of the list) to go back to your return.
