I did my taxes a month ago. I got my federal back through direct deposit. My state status says READY TO MAIL. What does that mean?

"ready to mail" means you have not e-filed it --and if you did not put it in an envelope and take it to a mailbox, it has not been filed at all.    So it may have been rejected when you tried to e-file and you did not notice--or perhaps you just did not e-file it by mistake.  You need to either e-file it now or print it and mail it.
