What does pending mean what does pending mean

This means that your e-filed state return is on its way.  The government just hasn't accepted or rejected it yet.

There's is an order to how returns are processed after you've input your federal and state returns.  Your federal return is filed first through e-file, and must be filed and accepted before your state return is transmitted. 

So, there will always be at least a brief period after your federal return is accepted that your state return will be pending.

Most likely, there's no problem with your state return.  If your state return should be rejected -- which can happen, even when your federal return has been accepted -- you'll be notified.
