What if I filed the wrong filing status? Will the irs catch it and fix it? I also put the wrong about for how much I got from the stimulus.. did I mess up badly?

1. If you filed under a wrong filing status, in general the IRS will not catch it and fix it. They may find out in an examination of your return. What you should do is to amend your tax return

2. The IRS says:

 

DO NOT file an amended tax return with the IRS. If you entered an amount other than $0 on line 30 but made a mistake in calculating the amount, the IRS will calculate the correct amount of the 2021 Recovery Rebate Credit, make the correction to your tax return, and continue processing your return. If a correction is needed, there may be a delay in processing your return and the IRS will send you a notice explaining any change made.

However. if you are amending your return for the wrong filing status, you can also change the amount you received for the third stimulus.
