What is the status of my 2023 amended return and why isnt Turbo Tax helping since I did pay for Deluxe?

per the IRS website, May 2024, it is taking them on average 650 day to process an amended return. There is nothing Turbotax can do since all returns are self-prepared and once a return is mailed or e-filed and accepted it receives no updates on the status. Even using a pro would not help in facilitating the processing of an amended return. The real question is why are so many amended returns filed. Each is manually processed even if e-filed.

TurboTax gets no information from the IRS after you file your tax return. TurboTax cannot speed up the IRS foryou or even find out anything about your amended return. This is between you and the IRS.

Do not expect quick results from amending. It can take four months or more for the IRS to process an amended return.
