What supporting documents would I need to send with my amendment if I had to change the number of months my newborn lived with me?

You do not need to send any supporting documents for that.  You just made a mistake on your return if you did not say a newborn lived with you the whole year.  You are allowed --and are supposed-- to say that even if the child was born on December 31, 2018.  When you amend, the question about how long the child lived with you will appear in My Info.
