Some states are quick with refunds, while others (such as GA, WV, CO, AL, and others) can take quite a long time--even several weeks--as they crack down on fraudulent returns.

  However, we can tell you some things you should check in the meantime.

If you efiled the state return, use the tool below to be sure the state return was successfully efiled and accepted:

If that confirms it was accepted, or if you mailed the state return, then here's how to check the status of a state refund. 

TIP:  While you are at the state tax website, see if they have a notice or FAQ on how long it usually takes to get a refund in your state and how long to wait before calling your state's tax agency to inquire.
