tell us what paperwork and we may have a suggestion.    if you do nothing the IRS will take a position that will likely not be favorable to you.

What does the IRS want?  

You are required by law to keep all documents that prove what you reported on your tax return for at least 3 years in case the IRS wants them (and 7 years sometimes) or the IRS can disallow what you claimed.
