When filing prior year taxes when is the state taxes paid deducted
I am filing past due taxes fed and state of md for year 2016 I owe the state when can I deduct these taxes that will be paid in march 2019?
Those can only be deducted in the year they are paid. 2019 in your case.
Then you have to also be able to itemize to claim the deduction and be below the State and Local Income tax limit of $10,000.
