When I go to print my son's 2017 Federal Return all it gives me are the instruction on how to file but nothing else. Just the one page. Now what?

When I go to print my son's 2017 Federal Return all it gives me are the instruction on how to file but nothing else. Just the one page. His state return looks OK but not his Federal.So now what? Does this means he doesn't have to file a 2017 federal return just the state return?

If your son only had wage income and it was under $10,400 ($6,350 if you are claiming him as a Dependent), he does not need to file a Federal Tax Return if he didn't have any Federal Withholding.  

If he had State Tax Withholding, he would file a State Tax Return in order to get a refund of that Withholding.
