Turbotax shows my return as being accepted, but I never received an acknowledgment message from IRS

That sounds like a connection error on the IRS's website. When that happened you can try to clear your browser's cache and delete cookies.

If that doesn't work, try a different browser such as Safari or Firefox if you're currently using Chrome and vice versa.
