Why can’t I track my refund?

I entered in all the information I needed on the IRS website but it says I have to wait 2-3 weeks even though it also says my status should be available after 24hrs.

Once you e-file your return and IRS accepts it, then your return is on IRS timetable. There is no way of knowing exactly when IRS will finish processing your return, but you can track your refund on the IRS website. You will not see your refund expected date, on the IRS website, until after IRS approves the refund. If it is approved, IRS will update your status, and they will give you an estimated date.
