According to the IRS, updates to Where’s My Refund status is delayed for some.  I suggest calling the Where's My Refund automated hotline instead: 1-800-829-1954; you may have a better chance of getting your refund status this way.

If you're still unsuccessful in getting your refund status, just remember that Covid-19 continues to cause delays in some of the IRS processes.  I would suggest checking back periodically.

That hot line is as cold as the north pole, they just say it to busy to be brother by us taxpayers and hangs up.

Could be for a number of reasons.  If you have earned income credit and/or additional child tax credit, it is probably delayed. Returns with either of these credits are covered under the PATH act, which gives the IRS authority to delay the refund to verify dependent information on your return.  Did you have unemployment benefits in 2020?  IRS is not processing these returns until they get the programming updated for the 10,200 unemployment benefit exclusion from the American Rescue Plan.  Did you claim a dependent that could have been claimed by someone else?  Did you have health insurance from the ACA Marketplace and not include the 1095-A information?  These items will stop your processing and you will get a letter from the IRS with instruction of what you need to include.
